Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) was delighted to welcome esteemed alumnus, Professor Mark Ritson, back to campus to receive an alumni award and to present his Top 10 Marketing Moments of 2022 in a special event.

Mark Ritson is an experienced brand consultant and acclaimed lecturer as well as an award-winning columnist - particularly well known for his longstanding column in Marketing Week magazine.

He holds two degrees from Lancaster University, BSc Marketing (1993) and PhD Marketing (1996), and recently returned to the Bailrigg campus to accept an ‘Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award’ in recognition of his substantial contribution to the field of Marketing. He was presented with his award on 14 December during one of Lancaster University’s Winter graduation ceremonies.

Accepting this award, Mark addressed his younger self who sat in the very same room for his graduation ceremony 30 years ago. He gave himself advice for the future and spoke of the amazing time he had as a student in Lancaster – though he wished he’d appreciated everything more at the time.

In LUMS later that evening, in a presentation that lived up to its promise of being ‘applied, educational, and fun’, Mark delivered the countdown of his Top 10 Marketing Moments of 2022, to an audience of students, alumni, colleagues, and members of the public.

His signature no-nonsense and humorous take on these happenings was met with much enthusiasm from the audience, who further explored Mark’s insights through a Q&A session and the opportunity to speak with him over refreshments after the talk.
