Agah Kozan will present a seminar to the Management Science Department. This is the first speaker of a two speaker session.
Abstract: This seminar presents a study on integrating early event detection with facility location optimisation in emergency and on-demand transportation systems. The research investigates whether event-time-based warning signals can improve location-allocation decisions compared with rolling-demand approaches. The proposed framework combines statistical detection, dynamic demand construction, weighted p-median optimisation, and congestion-aware evaluation. By bringing these components together, the study aims to explore how early information on emerging demand can be translated into operational planning decisions for dynamic service systems.
This seminar presents research conducted within the scope of a TÜBİTAK 2219 International Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Lancaster University, hosted by Burak Boyacı.
