The Centre for Consumption Insights will be hosting the first of its 2024 Research Training Series with Dr Pilar Rojas-Gaviria from the University of Birmingham on undertaking poetics in studies of markets, marketing, and consumption.

The session will include a workshop on integrating poetics to empirical research and will be of relevance to all with an interest in interpretive methodologies. Dr Rojas-Gaviria will draw upon her experiences with poetic mediation and forms of representation across various projects to unpack how adopting a poetic orientation can assist with undertaking critical research.

Dr Pilar Rojas-Gaviria has built her academic career between Europe and Latin America. Her research projects reflect her interest in understanding how our identities and consumption choices unfold within an economy of affects. Her work highlights the critical and transformative aspects of these relationships. Pilar’s work also advances arts-based research from a theoretical, epistemological and methodological standpoint.
