Panel Discussion
Information and communication technology (ICT) now permeates every aspect or organizational and societal life and influences research in many disciplines. Publishing opportunities for research that examines the design, use and consequences of IS are also rapidly evolving, through a variety of innovative disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches.
In addition to traditional broad-based ICT journals, journals focusing on specific domains relating to ICT are also coming to the fore. The panel comprises three scholars in editorial positions in three leading journals of the Operational Research Society. Prof. Par Agerfalk is the Co-Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Information Systems, Prof. Sudha Ram is the Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Business Analytics, and Prof. Bengisu Tulu is an Area Editor of Health Systems. The panel will discuss scholarly publishing opportunities covering the broad spectrum of ICT-focused research, not only within the information systems/management discipline, but also as it relates to other areas such as, for example finance, management and healthcare, through topics like analytics and big data. The panel will be of relevance and interest to faculty and doctoral students with an interest in publishing research that addresses analytical/management/societal topics relating to ICT. The panel will begin at 15:30 hrs with the panellists discussing publishing opportunities within the respective journals, followed by interactive Q/A with the audience.

I enjoy teaching because it allows me to interact with students who have the potential to make the world a better place using technology. I continually innovate in my courses to ensure students enjoy the learning experience, learn the key concepts and skills related to information systems through real world examples, have an opportunity to learn from each other, learn to present themselves as professionals, and most importantly learn to use or develop technology to make a difference.
