Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
After four years of working in the public sector, I decided to pursue my further education in the Human Resource field to satisfy my curiosity for advanced knowledge and achieve my dream of becoming a professional HR specialist.
In my search for the opportunity to enrich my knowledge, Lancaster University Management School was undoubtedly my first choice for masters study. LUMS is one of a few business schools in the world that is quadruple accredited by AACSB, EQUIS, the Association of MBAs and the Small Business Charter. This indicates an excellent teaching quality and high-level of training.
What was the best thing about your course?
I truly enjoy the course design that provided me with not only an insight into people management and dynamics of learning but also the opportunities to gain valuable practical experience. Despite my educational background in Human Resource, I did not have the opportunity to gain insight into Learning Designs and the importance of knowledge management within organisation at undergraduate level. Therefore, I really enjoyed two modules "Design and Dynamics of Learning" and " Organisational Learning and Knowledge Management" (OLKM) which fascinated me with advanced knowledge in human resource development and Critical thinking about OLKM strategies at the workplace.
I also appreciated the opportunity for "learning by doing" from designing interactive learning activities to consulting with local businesses named Samad Aerospace and Briggs Shoes. These were really fruitful learning experiences that enable me to continuously reflect on what was taught in class and as well as improve my confidence and consulting skills.
What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?
I really enjoy the school's rich mixture of nationalities and cultural backgrounds that allow me to learn from a diverse group of people. Working in a diverse team was not easy, but I learned to handle differences, conflicts along the way and we helped each other overcome challenges together.
What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?
My one-year at LUMS was an unforgettable life experience. I enjoyed team-building workshops at the beginning of the semester and the dinner with my classmates, organised by our department for Christmas, which brought us closer together. I also took the opportunity to become a LUMS ambassador, which gave me an amazing experience and an opportunity to meet many interesting people from different parts of the world.
What impact did scholarships or funding have on your degree experience?
I couldn't have this great journey without the 30th Anniversary Scholarship from the department which gave me a huge incentive to do my best during the course. I really appreciate what I have learned from the MA Human Resources and Consulting and will continue to nourish my passions for Human Resource.
