From “One Day” to “Day One”

Having had thousands of dreams and hundreds of questions in mind – Will I be able to make a small place for myself in this big world?
It gives me an immense sense of rectitude to write on this space whilst recently completing my Michaelmas Term as a student of MSc Business Analytics at Lancaster University. Making connections with people from different cultures, ethnic and religious backgrounds, socio-economic milieu always had my precedence.
The wheel of time turns. I still cannot grasp the fact that it’s been more than three months since I came to the UK from India. Whether it was about having picked up from the Manchester Airport or facilitating starter support during the time of self-isolation amid pandemic travel from an Amber List country, Lancaster University’s care was unparallel. Making feel home away from home was never that easy.
With state-of-art infrastructure and modern teaching techniques, Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has simply avowed me since day one. The best part I enjoy being here is I get unlimited access to millions of books through the extensive library system, access to moodle where I can revisit the lectures and seminars at my own pace, and getting a handful of materials and additional tasks to recheck my understandings.
LUMS follows the best international teaching practices, this allows me to learn things rather than being spoon-fed the information. Since the coursework and modules are so well designed, they challenge me every time. The indispensable fact of learning is struggling, and I never had to face the time where I was left without support. The lectures are always supplemented by Workshops, Drop-in Sessions, and Seminars, where I can clarify my doubts and learn the more realistic part and how can it be applied in the real world.
My view of education goes beyond academics, it's only one aspect of it. Along with my studies, I love being into clubs and societies, voluntary roles like the PG Board Chair where I figurehead more than 4000+ Postgraduate Students voices to the University Management and Trustees.
LUMS is not just an academic space for me, it’s a viaduct for the people of different ethnicity to manage to make a connection – a bridge – so that despite our cultural differences we still can communicate with one another, share ideas and beliefs, and show to the rest of the world our treasures and richness. At Lancaster University Management School, Business is Personal.
