Country Of Origin: Pakistan

Degree: BA Management & Entrepreneurship, 2014

After completing his BA in Management and Entrepreneurship, Raja was accepted on to the MSc International Innovation at LUMS.

I decided to choose LUMS because one of my relatives who studied here had fond memories of the Roses tournaments and the Management School. After doing some further research about the University, I started to love it!

I liked the practical elements of the BA Management and Entrepreneurship, especially the consulting project and starting our own virtual business. We had to work in teams to conduct research, find solutions and then present them to a panel. Furthermore, having renowned speakers sharing their experiences was really important, as I got to learn from their successes and failures.

The LUMS Careers Team is always there if one needs advice, especially with CVs, interviews or anything related to the job market. They helped me identify businesses that were looking for interns and also helped me make my CV more presentable. Also, various workshops prepared me for the different tests that are used at companies.

I did my placement at VisionsLive, a technological company. It was one of my best experiences, especially because it showed me how real businesses operate in a practical setting. I was in charge of multiple international research projects from various multinational companies such as Kodak and Nestlé.

The most fun aspects of university life were definitely the fun memories with friends, such as the Sugarhouse parties and themed nights out with different societies. The University always feels like one big family and that is why the Lancaster community is so unique.

I would say that all my experiences at Lancaster helped me ‘evolve’ into a much better person. I have made friends from all over the world and memories that I will cherish forever. Lancaster will always have a place in my heart.

I was fortunate enough to be accepted on to International Innovation MSc at Lancaster University and received a scholarship. I decided to do the programme, as it contains practical elements of starting a new venture alongside a UK and Chinese company.
