About iGrow Green Careers

The iGrow Green Careers Programme at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) is a free, hands-on learning programme designed to help develop future leaders in sustainability. The programme is funded by the British Council’s Climate Skills Global Collaboration Grants.

This programme is designed for young people who have limited opportunities or face barriers to progression. It aims to enhance employability through practical training in digital marketing, social media, podcasting and analytics, alongside circular-economy and green skills. Experts provide real-world insights into sustainability, innovation and AI, strengthening participants’ skills and preparing them for new opportunities, future career pathways and entrepreneurial ventures

Who can take part?

To take part in the programme, you must be:

  • Aged between 18 and 30 years old
  • Fluent in English

You do not need prior experience in business or sustainability.

When does the programme take place?

The programme lasts six months, from 15 March - 31 August 2026.

How much does the programme cost?

There is no fee to take part.

Who is running the programme?

iGrow Green Careers is delivered by Dr Hina Khan, alongside Dr Eman Gadalla and Professor Ahmad Daryanto from the Department of Marketing at Lancaster University Management School. Together, they bring internationally recognised expertise in sustainability, marketing, and digital innovation, combining research and industry experience to advance green skills, employability, and enterprise development through cross-sector collaboration.

How is the programme structured?

iGrow Green Careers is delivered in a hybrid format. You will attend Lancaster University's campus one day per week (approximately 10am - 4pm, around six hours), plus complete approximately six hours of off-campus independent learning, which includes group work, reading and preparation. In total, this amounts to 12 hours per week.

What will I do on the programme?

  • You will attend lectures, where our experts will share practical insights and real-world experiences in sustainability, innovation, Digital marketing and AI.
  • You will collaborate on applied company projects where you will co-create tangible solutions to real business and environmental challenges.

Phase 1

From March to May 2026, you will be trained in sustainability, innovation, and digital marketing skills.

Phase 2

The second part of the programme is from June - August 2026. You will receive a business brief from an industry partner, develop creative solutions, and present your findings directly to the client.

What skills will I gain?

When you complete the iGrow Green Careers programme, you will receive a CPD certificate from Lancaster University. You will be able to demonstrate the skills you have learned.

Transferable employability skills

You will build your skills in teamwork, critical thinking, digital, analytical, creative, presentation, and problem-solving.

Digital marketing skills

You will develop your skills and experience in digital marketing communications, social media campaigns, and podcasting.

Sustainablility

You will learn about circular economy thinking, sustainable business models, and innovation.

Business and management

You will earn about responsible management and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Project skills

The real-world project experience you gain will strengthen your CV.
