What to pack for university

Packing for University can be a bit daunting. You may be unsure what to pack and what to leave at home. This mini blog post is to help you know what to bring to university in your first year.

There is a list at the end with some of the basics.

Bedroom

Lancaster will be your new home. Bring things that will make your room feel nice to you. Posters, photos, plants, art.… you name it. It is good to dedicate some time to surround yourself with things that you love.

Kitchen/Bathroom

If you are struggling to fit all the things you need for university, I would buy most of the kitchen and bathroom stuff once I have arrived. There are a few shops in town where you can buy all the essentials or you can order them online. Alternatively, you can buy second hand items at the university from Green Lancaster. It is cheaper and better for the environment.

Miscellaneous

Well... you can´t come to university without your phone, ipad/laptop, and headphones. It is important to not forget all the documentation necessary.

Clothing

During your first year you will have a small wardrove to keep all your clothes and shoes. Try to not over pack and make sure you bring all the essentials. Choose your clothes according to season and switch them up when you go back home.

In Lancaster it often rains so make sure you bring a waterproof coat and warm clothes. Also, if you know you will be joining a specific society or trying out for a sports team bring clothes to do so!
