Furness College Lunchtime Talks: Wildlife Wellbeing Walks: Nurturing yourself in the natural world Ros Jones, Undergraduate Programmes Coordinator, Biomedical and Life Sciences Tuesday 2 May at 12noon - 12.50pm
As a member of staff working in the Furness College building, Ros has recently set up a new socially-minded company in Lancaster to provide walks and talks on wildlife in the local area. With a background in Botany and a keen interest in the natural world, Ros has a wealth of knowledge which she adds to for each walk, researching individual species to provide interesting facts for attendees. Although originally from Kent, Ros has very much adopted Lancaster as her home and has got to know her local wildlife patches through lockdowns and a subsequent period of injury when she was off sick. The restorative power of being immersed in nature during these difficult periods of time is what she wants to share with others in the area. Sessions include snippets of history, poetry and mindfulness for a well-rounded experience.
Come along and find out more about how engaging with nature on a walk can bring a whole host of benefits, and (if you would like to) join in a short mindfulness practice at the end of the session. Refreshments will be available at this free event. Please notify us at the time of booking of any dietary requirements you may have. For further enquiries, please contact the Furness College Office.
