Common Purpose Future Leader Experience

The programme takes place across three half-days. You will participate in a combination of full-group sessions and small breakout sessions, where you build connections with industry leaders and your peers.
You will also take part in challenging discussions with leaders and go behind the scenes of organisations, gaining hands-on experience through exploring real challenges they face.
The Future Leader Experience has been made possible thanks to financial support from Santander Universities.
All students at Lancaster are eligible to apply for this programme. However, in the event that we receive more applications than we have space for, we will prioritise applications using the following criteria:
- Students who have joined the GROW Your Future programme NB: GROW Your Future students who have previously participated in a Common Purpose Leadership Experience will not receive priority.
- Students who have joined the Lancaster Success Programme
- International undergraduate students with disabilities
- Postgraduate students with disabilities
- International undergraduate students who meet at least 2 of the widening participation criteria listed on the application form
- Postgraduate students who meet at least 2 of the widening participation criteria listed on the application form
- Other undergraduates who are not part of the GROW Your Future Programme
- Other postgraduates who do not meet the widening participation criteria listed on the application form

Cross-Cultural Competence Training
Our Cross Cultural Competence Awareness Workshop will help you develop thriving relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds. It offers a useful framework to identify ways to grow your cross-cultural competence, navigate cross-cultural interactions, and then provide examples to employers in future interviews. It will equip you with awareness and skills to make a difference in incresingly interconnected and global world. Lancaster University students can gain 5 Lancaster Award points by attending.
In a world that is becoming increasingly more global and interconnected, being culturally competent is an essential key employability skill for 2021 and beyond. Cross-Cultural competence is the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures and from different backgrounds. This workshop will enable you to understand why being culturally competent is important for your future career, explore what cross-cultural competence is and is not and help you identify ways to grow your cross-cultural competence and then provide examples to employers in future interviews.
