Bigforth Drive closure and other road closures on campus this summer and how they could affect you

Throughout the months of July and August this summer there will be several instances of improvement works taking place across some of the most well used roads and paths on campus.

Bigforth Drive resurfacing works - Completed

The Bigforth Drive road works were completed this summer. The successful project included important safety works such as resurfacing, filling in potholes and implementing new speed bumps and road markings.

Bailrigg Lane resurfacing works - Completed

The Bailrigg Lane path resurfacing works are now complete. The northern end of the path has been resurfaced, with potholes and areas of cracked tarmac fixed, providing a safer user experience. A new anti-slip surface has also been applied, in addition to new road markings.

Underpass redevelopment project: 24 July to 25 August

The Underpass will be closed for bus, pedestrian and other traffic access from 12am on Monday 24 July until the evening of Friday 25 August to carry out important remedial and redevelopment works. Access to the Underpass from both the Underpass road and accompanying footpaths and Alexandra Square will be restricted throughout the duration of the project, with a temporary bus stop located on Bowland Avenue by the Chaplaincy Centre throughout the duration of the works
