The key reason for choosing LUMS was due to its sterling reputation as a globally elite business school. The University offered a flexible bachelor’s degree offering a vast range of subjects to select accompanied with expert teaching and a great campus environment.

The BSc Accounting and Finance programme had a very practical approach by having a significant portion of the grades attributed to coursework’s which involved research, team work and presentations. It also contained range of different disciplines such as IFRS, US GAAP, Acquisition finance, tax, audit etc. leading to attaining a wide range of discipline and enhancing future prospects for employability/business.

During my time at Lancaster I was part of the University pool team and Fylde Men’s A team. We competed on a weekly basis and also had many socials. During the years of playing pool I was a part of the team winning the Fylde A league, Lancaster City league, Roses and Bronze medal at BUCS. In my first year I was elected as the International office for Fylde College (JCR) for a Year during which I was a part of weekly college meetings and along with other members helped organize various events for the college, this was a significant learning curve in the areas of people management skills and event organization. Moreover, I was a part of a 6 a-side football team for over 3 years finishing top 4 every year and also captained for one season. I’m very thankful to the University to provide such a platform to be participative across various activities and make lifelong friends.

After completing my second year, I worked as an Intern in the Acquisition Finance Team of BNP Paribas in their London Headquarters. It was a great learning curve, as I was involved in preparation of financial models for various acquisitions. It further improved my knowledge on ratio computations, financial analysis and credit ratings analysis which for very helpful my final year of university.

LUMS Careers support services were really useful as it provided various workshops related to CV writing, preparing for interviews and team working. All of these are essential requirements an employer would seek, thus it played in a significant role in strengthening my job applications.

Being in the campus with over 12,000 students coming from all over the world, was enriching as it presented the opportunity to interact with students from different backgrounds, cultures and ambitions. The University enabled me to become independent, responsible and accountable in all aspects of my life.

I secured a job as an Audit Associate with KPMG Singapore upon completion of my degree, After a year of working I joined EY Dubai and continued to progress to the rank of Senior Audit associate. During the years I have worked in London, Singapore and Dubai. I strongly believe that Lancaster has prepared me for the world by being the foundation of gaining a global perspective, developing strong work ethic, persistence and focus which will be the pillars of my further progression.
