Join Dr Brian Gregory, LUMS Entrepreneurs in Residence, and meet LUMS alumni and business leaders from across Asia for an honest and practical conversation about building careers and businesses between the UK and Asia.

Through an informal Q&A, our speakers will share their personal experiences of studying and building careers internationally, including what their UK education prepared them for, what surprised them when they returned home, and how approaches to business, relationships and networking can differ across markets.

We’ll explore:

• What lessons from a UK business education proved valuable in the real world?
• What advantages can a UK degree bring when returning home?
• How important are local networks, relationships, trust and family connections?
• Is a Western approach to management always transferable?
• Where are the biggest opportunities for growth?
• Which sectors or markets are misunderstood by Western businesses and investors?
• What makes it easier - or harder - to build a career or scale a business in the UK compared with Asia?

With perspectives from China, Cambodia and Vietnam, this session will offer students the chance to hear directly from people who have navigated these markets themselves -including the opportunities, challenges, mistakes and lessons they have encountered along the way.

There will also be an opportunity for delegates to put their own questions to the panel.

Open to anyone interested in international careers, entrepreneurship, business and opportunities across Asia.

This in person session explores opportunity, culture, networks and the realities of returning home as a student or scaling internationally if that fits in your plans. Our speakers will offer practical insights for our students to help them shape their own global business futures.
