Fulgoni Scholars meet the alumnus and donor of their scholarships

This year’s Fulgoni Scholars, all studying Marketing postgraduate programmes, recently enjoyed a rare and exciting opportunity to meet the donor who funds their scholarships. Senior alumnus, Gian Fulgoni (MA, Marketing, 1970), welcomed the chance to talk to them about their career aspirations and to share points of wisdom from nearly half a century of business success in Market Research.

Gian said “It was great to meet these three outstanding scholars. My Master's in Marketing from Lancaster was the breakthrough step in my career and I’m confident that Mal, Johanna and Jahnae will get a similar boost when they complete their studies. A marketing degree from Lancaster - one of the UK’s most admired universities - opens up so many career opportunities. I’m delighted to have been able to provide them with their scholarships.”

One of the scholars, Jahnae Gumbs added, “It was a great privilege to meet Gian. Having the chance to talk with such a successful international entrepreneur and businessman was extremely thought-provoking. I am sure my peers would agree that it was a tremendous confidence boost as we commence our studies. In our meeting, Gian addressed the complexities of the ever-changing marketing realm as well as advising on career avenues worth pursuing – and those to avoid! Valuable and stimulating advice.”

Prof Nick Alexander commented, “It was great for our sponsored Marketing Masters' students to hear what Gian had achieved, since graduating with his own Master's degree from Lancaster in its early years. The advice he gave and the questions our students asked demonstrated a shared desire to benefit from a leading Marketing Department in one of the UK’s best universities. The enthusiasm and generosity Gian brought to the occasion was inspirational for all of us.”
