Work Matters 2023: A tipping point for the labour market?
14.00 - 15.00 | Tuesday 18 Apr | Online
As the cost of living crisis continues to hit living standards with inflation wiping away wage rises, the UK labour market is showing some worrying signs.
Despite unemployment not rising in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of workers in employment is down and organisations are facing labour shortages and a slowing economy. Economic inactivity is high and is a significant challenge for policy-makers looking to grow the economy. There are early signs that despite high vacancies, young people are struggling to find work and more organisations are deploying insecure contracts.
With the IMF warning the UK economy will be the only major economy to shrink in 2023 how can the Government stimulate the labour market to help deliver growth?
Join the Work Foundation and a panel of experts to review the labour market statistics from the Office for National Statistics and what it means for workers, businesses and communities.
