Event Details

As part of the Festival of Social Science this project shows how Design Research is a key bridge between the social and technical aspects of emerging AI technologies.

This event shares recent research conducted at Lancaster Imagination Lab, which uses to Design-led methods to demystify the highly technical world of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The event begins with the screening of a short film explaining the background to the project and then discusses the unique role of Design in researching the social aspects of AI. The second part of the event is a short interactive workshop where attendees will be invited to look at a series of icons and symbols which have been designed to try and explain how AI systems work. The task is to match up the symbols with their meanings. Join us and see if you could spot a mutant algorithm.
