Environmental improvements made to the Welcome Centre Outdoor Space

Improvement to the Welcome Centre outdoor space.

A series of works have been completed to the outdoor spaces associated with the Welcome Centre, which will see important environmental improvements to the area for colleagues and local wildlife.

The project, which was carried out by the Facilities Grounds Team, and included providing additional plants for pollinators, seasonal bulbs, ‘bug hotels’, habitat houses, trellis works and additional seating outside the Welcome Centre reception. These implementations will bring beneficial insects to these outdoor areas, giving them a safe space to create habitats, while also providing a way to make use of spare or leftover materials which may otherwise have gone to waste. The additional seating will also provide a new area for colleague and visitors to relax, take time away from offices and teaching spaces, and enjoy the local environment.
