Works are set to commence at the end of June, marking the start of a 32 week project to replace sections of the Great Hall roof.

The works are planned to commence on the 29th June with contractors setting-up their compound adjacent to the Music Building before erecting a small scaffold and hoist system. The scaffold will be located on the Western side of the building, opposite the water fountains in Great Hall Square.

Contractors will significantly reduce the need for scaffolding by installing a safety rail and edge protection around the edge of the roof. This will allow access in the area to be maintained throughout the project and keep the works contained.

There will be a need to restrict some internal corridors during certain times throughout the project and as such, the Project Team are liaising closely with building users to ensure that disruption is mitigated where possible.

A lay-down are for construction materials is being allocated to the contractor on the Perimeter Road near to LICA which will occupy a small number of parting spaces for the first few weeks of the project.

FRS Roofing Services Ltd. have been appointed to replace the roof as part of a wider maintenance programme, which surveyed the whole of campus to assess roof conditions in 2019. FRS completed the replacement of Bowland North roof in 2019 and have also been appointed to undertake a similar project at Slaidburn House.
