Infolab labs and Charles Carter Decision Theatre development

Infolab building

A project to develop new labs to support training the next generation of Computer Science and Cyber Security students in the Infolab building and a semi-immersive Decision Theatre in the Charles Carter building will take place from the 26th June and 4th July respectively until mid-September 2023, followed by a dedicated period of audio visual installation carried out by the ISS department

Infolab Cyber Security Labs – 26th June to 15th September 2023

The project will see existing Infolab B and C floor office and lab space redeveloped into cutting edge education and training facilities for the next generation of cyber security specialists. The works will involve construction activities which are likely to generate a moderate level of localised noise disruption. B, C and D floors in the west wing of the Infolab 21 building will be closed for normal access and meeting spaces D23, D55, C60a and C60b/c will not be available during the works period. A compound will be in place in Car Park E on the Perimeter Road near the ISS building. A skip for waste and a designated area for deliveries will be located outside the Infolab building.

Charles Carter Decision Theatre – 4th July to 15th September 2023

The project to create the Decision Theatre will see two existing A floor seminar rooms redeveloped into cutting edge education and training facilities for the next generation of cyber security specialists. Works will be carried out in rooms A16/A17, and spaces A15, A18 and A19 will also be unavailable for use during the works period. The project will create a moderate level of localised noise disruption in and around the Charles Carter building. The Decision Theatre construction team will also operate from the compound located in Car Park E on the Perimeter Road.

These projects are supported by a £4m grant from the Office for Students (OfS) and will contribute to Lancaster’s flagship Data Cyber Quarter. Works are expected to take place during normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00) during term times and the summer holiday period. We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused by these projects. Regular project update communications will take place throughout the development to ensure that all stakeholders are aware of the works schedule and can plan their activities accordingly.
