I chose LUMS because it offered the degree course I wanted, combining business with psychology. It also allowed me to study in the safe and comfortable environment that Lancaster University campus offers. LUMS has gone from strength to strength over the years and really stands out as a university faculty in the UK. After visiting LUMS for an open day there really was no other option for me – I had to become a LUMS student.

I decided to study Marketing with Psychology because of the links between the two subjects. The degree constantly overlapped to allow me to see these connections and aid my knowledge in both areas. In regards to the Marketing department, I appreciate how relevant the lectures are as they include really topical aspects of business and marketing.

Whilst at Lancaster I wrote several articles for both the University’s student newspaper, SCAN and Cartmel College’s magazine – The Griffin. Through this I gained involvement in judging the Battle of the Bands, being a member of the Campus Festival project group and helping to plan two Cartmel College extravs. I was also elected Audio-Visual Technician for Cartmel College’s JCR Executive and planned a sell-out Cinderella pantomime in December 2012.

Through my involvement in university life I have received awards for Cartmelian of the Year 2012 and JCR Executive of the Year 2012.

I have really enjoyed my experience at Lancaster. I appreciate all the opportunities on offer to students and the support they receive from Lancaster University Students Union (LUSU), their colleges and their departments. Lancaster is a place where the more you put into it, the more you get out of it, and I have thrived on getting involved in all aspects of university life.
