Want to do an undergraduate course with us?
If you are an international student who is thinking about studying in the UK and are not sure what English language qualifications you need this page will be able to guide you.
Some international students will need to have completed a Foundation Programme before starting a degree programme at Lancaster. Information about how we evaluate international qualifications can be found on our International Qualifications webpage. If you are required to complete a Foundation Programme and have not yet done so, you can apply to attend Lancaster's International Foundation Year (see details below). You will also need to have achieved an IELTS score of at least 5.0 or equivalent.
For direct entry to Lancaster University, if you have not quite achieved an IELTS of 6.5, and currently have an IELTS score of 6.0, then you may be able to attend our 4-week English for Academic Purposes course to bring you up to the required level (see details below).
Alternatively, if you have already met your English language requirement, you may want to consider attending our Study Start course. Study Start is a 2-week induction course designed to help international students to get the best possible start for their degree at Lancaster University (details also below).
