2. The Nuclear Catalyst

The IAA and Knowledge Exchange Teams at Lancaster University have launched the Nuclear Catalyst, an initiative for organisations across the nuclear supply chain who are ready to innovate. The Nuclear Catalyst will convene a series of sessions to identify shared challenges and opportunities, co-develop solutions with academic partners, and catalyse new market-ready innovations — drawing on Lancaster’s nuclear research expertise and the applied experiences of industry.

Key sessions are scheduled as follows: the Activation Session on 2 December 2025, the Connexions Session on 11 December 2025, a Project Development and Funding Application phase during January–February 2026, and a Project Alignment Forum on 3 February 2026. See: Lancaster University

These workshops are designed to bring together industry and academic stakeholders to co-create viable projects — some potentially ready to launch immediately (via student projects for example), others primed to apply for innovation funding via the IAA. This funding can be mobilised quickly to test and develop promising ideas. Please note that IAA funding is available only for engineering and physical-sciences projects; full eligibility criteria are provided below.

IAA Nuclear Catalyst Applicant Webinar - we will arrange an online webinar w/c 6th January to help shape proposals.
