Join us in a friendly discussion where we navigate tricky conundrums related to the impact of deepfake technology on our society.

It is now possible for almost anyone to create convincing deepfake content, such as videos of people doing and saying things that they never did. Deepfake technology is impacting society in myriad ways — some positive and some negative. Ultimately, it’s hard to ignore the significance of the fast-changing digital landscape in our lives and in our research.

Conundrums in this session include "What do you see as the most exciting opportunities/pressing challenges from deepfake technology?" "How can we achieve a balance between technological development and responsible and ethical innovation?" "What regulation or policy changes could help to mitigate the harms of tech development?"

All staff welcome, as well as the postgraduate community.

We will bring hot beverages, and refreshments and you can bring any questions you have about the topic.

Research funded by Wellcome.
