DeLC Language Week is happening every day from June 6th to June 10th with everyone welcome to attend. On Friday June 10th, there will be different Spanish sessions on offer all day.

The schedule for our Spanish sessions on Friday is:

11:00 – 12:00 : Spanish for Beginners Taster Class (open to all)

This session is a taster session in Spanish

¡Bienvenidos/as al aula de español! Aimed at beginners, this session will introduce you to some of the basics of the Spanish language, including introductions and greetings, giving basic information, and the alphabet. By the end of the session, you will be able to greet others and introduce yourself, and will know the basics of Spanish pronunciation. 14:00 – 15:00 : Employability and Languages: Using Your Spanish Language Study

Employability and Languages: Using Your Spanish Language Study to Practice and Reflect on Skills Development.

In this session, addressed to all and delivered in English, you will hear from two language undergraduates about their work-based learning with a local school and community organisation and about the awareness of the contexts of languages and skills they developed. You will also be led into a reflection on the variety of skills that language learners can develop.

15:00 – 15:30 : Spanish culture in the films of Pedro Almodóvar

(open to all, in English)

We will talk about how Spanish films show the culture aspect of Spain.

We will give some examples of films from Pedro Almodóvar, and how these films show the Spanish culture.

15:30 – 16:00 : Volver by Almodóvar in the Spanish context (aimed at AS and A2, in Spanish)

We will study some of the topics treated in the film such as family, relationship and death. At the end of this session, you will be able to talk about how those topics are shown in the film Volver.
