The Data Science Institute is pleased to announce the next speaker in its Distinguished Speaker Series. This will be Dr Sathki Karunanith, the Director of Public Health for Lancashire, speaking directly about his experience of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Talk Title "Problem, what problem? Perspective taking amidst constant change during COVID19 pandemic"

About this event:

Dr. Sakthi Karunanithi is an experienced Public Health Director with a demonstrable history of working in the NHS, local government and industry. Sakthi’s breadth of knowledge covers Population Health Management, Evidence based policy advice, Epidemiology, Prevention, Health Promotion, Healthcare Management, and Healthcare. Sakthi has an active interest in insightful system leadership and innovation.

During the current pandemic, Sakthi has Chaired the joint intelligence and planning group to support the management of COVID19 pandemic across Lancashire Local Resilience Forum. Public Health Directors play a vital role in steering regional strategies and responses as we move through the pandemic. You may have seen Sathki giving vital public health messages only this week, given new concerns about the Omicron variant:

As an experienced clinician with a demonstrable history of working in the NHS, local government and industry, Sakthi has led the population health management and digital health programmes across the Lancashire and South Cumbria integrated care system. He is currently supporting the national NHSE system transformation team in delivering the place development programme.

A list of these speakers will be sent out soon if you would like to join us for lunch and face to face talks followed by the online talk by Sakthi. This will take place between 1- 3pm
