N8CIR and Research Software Engineering at Lancaster

N8CIR is a research focus within the N8 Research Partnership aimed at promoting and facilitating computationally intensive research across the eight most research intensive universities in the north of England. Our N8CIR Research Software Engineer, Robin Long, will describe Lancaster's involvement in N8CIR, and how it benefits our researchers particularly in the data sciences. In particular, he will highlight a new research software engineering skills development programme, the beginnings of an RSE support service at Lancaster, and how our researchers can access the Tier 2 "Bede" GPU supercomputing service hosted by N8CIR.
