It details the progression of essential measurement tools—such as the Human Development Index (HDI), Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), and Gender Social Norms Index —and highlights recent cutting edge metrics that capture granular inequalities, including recent technical advancements, specifically the use of machine learning and satellite imagery to generate hyper-local, grid-level HDI estimates. The presentation integrates intergenerational equity by accounting for planetary pressures and the proposal of concepts like a Nature Relationship Index. Finally, the presentation will discuss how these evolving metrics influence and drive decision-making processes across both the public and private sectors.
