This conference aims to showcase the work of our Research Centres, and of individual researchers within the School, to contribute to the richness of our faculty-wide research environment, and to support the development of our doctoral students as part of this community.

All academics, ECRs and doctoral students within the School are invited to attend and participate.

Keynote Speaker – Professor Nelarine Cornelis, Professor of Organisation Studies, Queen Mary University of London (TBC)

Seminar 1: Centre for Marketing Analytics and Forecasting

Dr Florian Dost will show how marketers use web-analytics, statistics and econometrics to assess marketing effectiveness and learn from past marketing activity in stable and in evolving business environments, but also how to safeguard against wrong conclusions from misunderstood or falsely measured online consumer data. The presentation will conclude with a cautionary note on using the results to inform future marketing activity, especially when in an evolving business environment.

Seminar 2: Non-affiliated research within the School

-Dr Lola Dada: Conceptualising the entrepreneurial process in standardised organisations.

-Dr Ben Kerrane: Baby steps towards research impact? Exploring the lived experience of fathers taking Shared Parental Leave and the video case book.

-Dr Karen Dale : Title TBC

Seminar 3: Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business

Dr Jess Davies and Dr Lingxuan Liu present an overview of the Pentland Centre’s work, with a focus on their respective areas of ‘Soils and Business’ and ‘Supply Chain Sustainability and Environmental Governance’.

PhD Poster Competition – Doctoral students at all stages of their studies are invited to present a poster. There will be prizes for 1st year and 2nd/3rd year categories, with judging to be undertaken by faculty academics. The prizes will be awarded at the end of the drinks and nibbles reception, to which members of faculty are cordially invited. To enter the competition, a 500 word abstract should be submitted to a.pradhan@lancaster.ac.uk by Friday 23rd March. There will be a skills training seminar (May 8th, 2pm) on how to develop and present posters. Upon acceptance, final posters should be submitted to Matthew Watson (m.watson@lancaster.ac.uk ), who will arrange printing, by Friday 1st June.

Doctoral students please note: this event is running in parallel with the LUMS/FASS Intellectual Party, taking place on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd July. All doctoral students registering for either event are strongly encouraged to submit either a developmental paper (Intellectual Party) or a poster (LUMS Research Conference). There is a fee of £20 for the Intellectual Party but LUMS students submitting a developmental paper will be eligible to reclaim this via the School conference funding scheme. Students will need to register separately for the Intellectual Party, via http://wp.lancs.ac.uk/intellectualparty/ .
