Event Details

This is an event aiming to inform children about hospitals and medicine as part of Campus in the City. Campus in the City is an exciting, interactive project which brings our world-class research and more to the city centre, as we move into St Nicholas Arcades for five weeks from 24th February 2018. We want to bring local people, academics and students closer together while bringing our research to life and sharing the opportunity to experience the relevance of this research for everyone.

Lancaster Medical School is taking over the Campus in the City shop to bring you the Teddy Bear Hospital. The Teddy Bear Hospital is a fun activity aimed at making 4-9 year olds feel more comfortable around doctors and hospitals. Children can bring along their sick or injured teddies and participate in activities to diagnose and treat them! Our expert ‘Teddy Doctors’, who are volunteer medical students, will bandage sore paws and use teddies and related activities to help explain to children what happens in hospital. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.

Older children (and adults!) will also be able to join us at the clinical skills stand, where Lancaster Medical School student volunteers will be demonstrating our special training manikins. Have you ever wondered what the back of your eye, or the inside of your ear looks like? What does the doctor see when they look in your eyes or ears? This is your chance to see for yourself! Please note that the Clinical Skills stand is aimed at people aged 10 and above.

This event is free and open to all.
