The British Cycling Northwest Youth Tour and Lancaster University Triathlon will take place on 25 August and 7 September respectively, affecting vehicle access to the main campus, the Sports Centre car park, and bus services. 

The closures are necessary to accommodate the events taking place on North Campus, as well as the existing traffic management in place for the construction of the Net Zero Energy Centre on East Campus.

Please allow additional time for travel and follow all signage and diversions on campus during the closure.

British Cycling Northwest Youth Tour - Monday 25 August

Between 8.30am - 5.30pm, there will be a full road closure from the Alexandra Park - South Drive T junction, affecting the Perimeter Road around East Campus, through North Campus, and back to the Bigforth Drive roundabout.

Campus Access

• Vehicles can enter campus via Bigforth Drive, turning right at the roundabout onto South Drive.
• Alternatively, access is available via Alexandra Park Drive (South West Campus), continuing onto the main campus by turning left where Alexandra Park meets South Drive.

Car Parking

• Parking will be available on South West Campus and on South Drive, Library Avenue, Farrer Avenue, Gillow Avenue, and Pendle Avenue.

Emergency Access

Emergency vehicles will be permitted to access the closed section of Perimeter Road with caution.

Bus Services

Bus services will not come onto campus. Please use the University Gates Bus Stops on the A6 (Southbound and Northbound)

Summer Vacation Residences (Furness)

Students who need access to their vehicle between 8.30am – 5.30pm on Monday 25 August are asked to move their vehicle to South West Campus.

Lancaster University Triathlon - Sunday 7 September

Between 8am - 2pm, Bigforth Drive and the Perimeter Road will be fully closed to all vehicles.

Sports Centre Access and Car Parking

• The Sports Centre is accessible on foot only.
• Car parking will be available on the Sports Field Car Park, accessible via Green Lane, a short walk to the Sports Centre.

Campus Access and Car Parking

• The Main Campus is accessible on foot only.
• South West Campus is accessible by vehicles via Alexandra Park Drive.
• Parking will be available on South West Campus.
• Anybody who needs access to their vehicle between 8am – 2pm on Sunday 7 September is asked to move their vehicle to South West Campus beforehand.

Emergency Access

Bus Services

Bus services will not come onto campus. Please use the University Gates Bus Stops on the A6 (Southbound and Northbound).
