Strong scores were also attained in the Psychology Department and the School of Computing and Communications, both of which have subjects in the top 150.

As one of the world’s largest environmental research centres, Lancaster Environment Centre works across disciplines, and societal and national boundaries to address global environmental challenges. With strategic partnerships in Africa, Asia and the Americas, the department offers students and researchers the opportunity to work and influence major environmental debates abroad.

One of the founding departments of the University, the Mathematics and Statistics Department is one of the most popular in the country. With a focus on pure mathematics and statistics, teaching is highly focused with a range of specialist topics available. In 2010, the STOR-i Statistics and Operational Research Centre for Doctoral Training opened - a joint venture with the Management School.

Lancaster is now among the ranks of the world’s elite institutions in 21 out of the 46 subjects featured in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject, an increase from last year. The Faculty of Science and Technology is fully committed to the University’s strategy in teaching and learning, research, and engagement, and to maintaining their triple top 10 national ranking.
