Welcome to Lancaster University's Geography online offer holder event.

Join us for an insight into Geography at Lancaster and what it is like to study with us in Lancaster Environment Centre, your home department. Find out more about your chosen degree, discuss any questions you may have with our current students and staff, and experience taster lectures and demonstrations in your subject.

10:00am Welcome to Lancaster Environment Centre
Find out more about the home department and community you will become a part of within Lancaster Environment Centre from our Head of Department, Professor Phil Barker.
10:15am Geography subject talk and questions and answers
Dr Ally Gormally, lead Admissions Tutor for Geography will give an introduction to Geography at Lancaster followed by questions and answers with staff, current students and recent alumni.
10:45am A day in the life of a current student
10:55am Optional break or chat
Take the opportunity to have a short break or chat with other offer holders and current students.
11:15am Live demonstration
Professor Duncan Whyatt will give you a live demonstration on Geographical Information Systems (GIS), one of the key technical skills covered in your degree.
11:25am Demonstrations
  • Human Geography - What can governments do about the climate crisis?
    Dr Becky Willis will tell you a little about her research, working with the government to improve climate action, and the teaching she does in LEC to transform the energy system.
  • Physical Geography - Soil, water science, and climate change
    Here Professor Phil Haygarth talks about his life in LEC, including the research and teaching he does around soil, water and climate.
