As the curtain came down on Lancaster University’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, the RAC Club in Pall Mall was the venue for an alumni ball attended by more than 150 people.

Hosted on 6 February by alumnus Mike Dormer and attended by special guests including fellow alumnus James May and the Pro-Chancellor, Lord Liddle, the evening was also a chance to say ‘farewell’ from his role as Chancellor to Sir Chris Bonington.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark E. Smith spoke warmly of Sir Chris’s contribution to Lancaster and announced his continuing connection in the new role of Chancellor’s Ambassador.

The largest formal event ever organised by Lancaster in London, alumni from every decade travelled from far and wide to attend, some flying in from the USA, Japan and Kenya.

With music provided by the Hit Squad for a packed dance floor, this special evening’s entertainment was further enhanced by charismatic magician and alumnus, Sam Fitton, recent winner of an award for the UK’s ‘Best Wedding Entertainment’ 2015.
