Going up in the world - Latest QS World University Rankings puts Lancaster in world top 150

Lancaster University is rising in the QS World University Rankings, released today June 8th.

Lancaster has been named as the world’s 132nd best university, according to the latest edition of the world’s leading university ranking.

The eighteenth edition of the QS World University Rankings, released today by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds, names the world’s 1300 best universities.

The rankings provide authoritative comparative analysis on the performance of the world’s top 1,300 universities – 145 more than in 2021’s edition – which can be found in 97 locations.

6,415 institutions were nominated for evaluation, 3,775 evaluated as eligible, and 1,673 were analysed.

The results also account for the distribution and performance of 14.7 million academic papers published between 2015 and 2019, and the 96 million citations received by those papers.

Lancaster University has been steadily climbing in the global league tables – improving on last year’s position of joint 135th .

The University scored particularly well for ‘citations per Faculty’ – the number of times Lancaster University researchers’ published work was referenced in other academic papers. Lancaster University achieves a score of 82.6 which corresponds to a rank of 89 for this dataset.

In recognition of the diverse and global communities at Lancaster University, it is also ranked highly for International Student Ratio. Lancaster University achieves a score of 97.1 which corresponds to a rank of 72 for this dataset.
