THE ranks Lancaster in world top 50 for Arts & Humanities

Lancaster University has been ranked in the top 50 for Arts & Humanities by the Times Higher Education in their ‘world top 100 subjects’ rankings for 2019.

Published today (Wednesday October 31) the 2019 THE World University Rankings by subject places Arts and Humanities at Lancaster at = 44.

The University also scored highly for Education, which is placed joint 36th in the world.

Lancaster University Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Simon Guy said: “We are delighted that the exceptional strength of our arts and humanities at Lancaster University has been recognised by our top 50 THE World University Ranking.

“Our commitment to be at the leading edge of scholarly research, set within an ethos of interdisciplinary collaboration, distinguishes Lancaster’s approach to research and education in the field.

“We are rightly proud of this achievement.”

The 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for arts and humanities subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

It highlights the universities that are leading across art, performing arts, languages, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology subjects.

This year’s ranking has expanded to include 506 institutions.
