The power of the ‘Big Four’ global tech companies is of concern in contemporary competition law. One of those debates is the power of platform operators as gatekeepers to consumers.

Examples of those disputes can be seen in the US court case between Epic and Apple with regard to Fortnite being barred from the iOS App Store over Apple’s charges on in app purchases. A similar dispute, between Apple and Spotify, has been raised in the EU.
