Applications open for Community Benefit Fund
Applications for the next round of the Lancaster University Community Benefit Fund are now open.
Now in its 13th year, the fund was created to ensure that benefits of the University’s on‑campus wind turbine are shared with communities across the district.
Each year, £20,000 is allocated to projects that enhance the local environment, strengthen community wellbeing, and contribute to positive, long‑term change.
Since its launch, the Community Benefit Fund has supported 116 initiatives, investing more than £240,000.
Any trust, community group, or voluntary organisation based within the Lancaster District (to the east of the River Lune) is eligible to apply by 3 July 2026.
Jonathan Mills, Sustainability Manager at Lancaster University, said: “It is great to receive applications and learn about the fantastic local community and environmental projects planned and underway.
“We are delighted to be able to continue supporting the creativity, commitment, and resilience of local groups who work tirelessly to improve life across the district.
“The Community Benefit Fund is one of the ways we ensure our renewable energy generation directly benefits the communities around us.”
