In October 2019 Lancaster University hosted a visit from Green Angel Syndicate. The event was held to build relationships between the two organisations and demonstrate Lancaster’s board research base and the regional businesses opportunities that are supported by Lancaster University.
Green Angel Syndicate is a London based organisation founded in 2013. They were established to make investments in early-stage technologies and processes in the green economy. Antoine Pradayrol, Director, said “Green Angel Syndicate is the only angel syndicate in the UK specialising exclusively on funding innovative companies that help solve the global warming crisis. Investments span across multiple sectors, including energy, transportation, buildings and recycling processes. Green Angel Syndicate is very keen to get in touch with companies across the UK, and the presentations left us really impressed by how advanced and multi-faceted the contribution of Lancaster University is to the development of such exciting businesses in the North West."
Lancaster has a vibrant green economy business community, with co-located businesses in Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) and CTap, as well as world-leading research in this sector and funded business support programmes. The event consisted of several meetings, where cross-campus interest were represented including IP and Commercialisation, Student Enterprise, Centre for Global Eco-Innovation and business development support in LEC and Physical Sciences.
Jessica Wenmouth, Commercialisation Impact Manager commented that “I hope this event is the start of a wider relationship with Green Angel Syndicate. We have a number of high growth SMEs working with Lancaster University to build green businesses and having links to investment is crucial. We also have world-leading research in energy, environment, sustainability which will be fostered to create impact and potential spin-out business opportunities”.
