Make time for a brew on Brew Monday

Brew Monday is an annual campaign, run by Samaritans, which promotes mental health awareness and encourages people to connect with others. Find out how to get involved on campus.

For Brew Monday 2026, Lancaster University Wellbeing Services, in partnership with LUSU, People and Organisational Effectiveness, Lancashire Mind, Samaritans, Chaplaincy Centre, Anti-Bullying and Harassment Team and others are coming together to provide spaces for staff and students to have a brew and talk it through.

All students and staff are welcome to join in.

Where and when?

On Monday 19 January, there are two ways to take part:

  • Walk in Brew and Chat for all students and staff in the Chaplaincy Centre from 11am-3pm. No need to register, just turn up.

The impact of Brew Monday

Samaritans says that reaching out to someone could help them know that they are valued and someone cares. If you’ve noticed someone has gone quiet in the group chat or you haven’t heard from them in a while, reach out and check in. A simple message can mean a lot to someone who is going through a difficult time.

Just reaching out and asking someone how they are can give them the opportunity to open up about how they’re feeling. Don’t forget to put aside some time to catch up with them properly, maybe over a cuppa.
