Construction is underway of a £4.7M Lecture Theatre.
The state-of-the art facility will be set back from the Spine, connecting to the FASS building on North campus. With a capacity of 400 seats, the lecture theatre will become the largest on campus, easing the demand on other teaching facilities and doubling-up as space to host large-scale conferences.
H. H. Smith will begin the main construction works from the 11th November following the set-up of their main site compound on John Creed Avenue. The focus of the first phase of works will be excavations to form the foundations of the building.
During the site set-up, around half of the parking spaces on John Creed Avenue will close to become a compound. This will later expand, removing most or all of the parking along the avenue for the duration of the project. George Fox car park is being resurfaced and relined to counteract the impact on parking spaces.
Construction is planned to be completed before the start of the 20/21 academic year.
