Biomedical Life Sciences Refurbishment project in progress

Biomedical Life Sciences students

A wide-scale Biomedical and Life Sciences refurbishment project within the LEC building is now in progress, continuing until a targeted completion date of late summer 2023. This key project, which will see works take place across A, B and C floors, will focus on refurbishing and upgrading BLS lab spaces to modern standards, as well as creating additional ancillary lab spaces in the building.

The project work will be split across three floors, with the initial phase of works taking place on A Floor from Monday 6th March. Work will then progress in phases, moving from floor to floor with staff and Post-Graduate students will temporarily relocating to alternative office space.

The majority of the works will be localised to the eastern side of the building, with all efforts undertaken to minimise disruption throughout the LEC1 building, and to mitigate disturbance to teaching and research space in LEC1 throughout the course of the construction works.

A site compound to support the project works will be established on Library Avenue from 27th February, and will occupy a number of parking spaces, remaining in place throughout the duration of the project. Works will continue during evenings, weekends and throughout the Easter and Summer holidays to minimise disruption wherever possible.

We appreciate the understanding of all BLS department and LEC1 building users and apologise for any inconvenience caused by these upcoming works. For more information on the project, please direct any queries or concerns by email to the Facilities Helpdesk: facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk
