Lancaster University's Facilities Service Delivery team have been 'Highly Commended' at the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Impact Awards which took place in London on 17 October.

Members of Lancaster’s Facilities and Estates teams were finalists for two awards at this year’s IWFM Impact Awards; Frontline Heroes and Team of the Year.

Each year the IWFM recognises excellence in facilities teams around the world.

During the lockdowns at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Lancaster’s Service Delivery Team which includes Security, Porters, Cleaning and Grounds teams, were on the front line of the University’s efforts to put the welfare of our students first.

Following the roll-out of the ‘ConnectLancaster’ app, if students didn’t check in to say they were ok, members of Lancaster’s Service Delivery Team would follow up with welfare checks, making sure all members of our community were safe and well.

Andrew Burgess, Director of Estates, Facilities & Commercial Services says; “It is fantastic to have national recognition of the hard work and dedication our teams gave during lockdown. Due to significant numbers of students being on campus during the pandemic the University never closed, a welfare support service was in place 24/7 during extremely challenging times. I would like to thank everyone involved in keeping campus open during the pandemic."

A short video about our Service Delivery Team was put together as part of the awards which included a vote for the winners. You can view the video on the IWFM webpages.
