The Facilities team has been shortlisted in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) awards in the Outstanding Estates Team category.

These are the 19th annual THE Awards (widely known as the "Oscars of higher education"), recognising excellence across the UK and Irish sectors. There are 20 categories in all, covering a wide range of university activity across leadership and management, administration, and academia. These awards focus primarily on activity during the 2021-22 academic year.

Lancaster University’s Interim Director of Estates, Facilities and Commercial Services, Paul Morris said: “I am thrilled we have been shortlisted for this award, it recognises the fantastic work of all the Facilities team throughout the pandemic and beyond.

“The award entry focused on our One team approach, our vision of ‘making campus an inspiring place to be,’ whilst living by our values, enhancing the student experience through the physical estate, enabling delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan.”

THE editor John Gill said: “19 years on from their launch, I’m delighted to say that the enthusiasm for the THE Awards continues to grow. This year saw yet another record number of entries, but maybe more importantly, we also have more institutions represented on the shortlists than ever before – a clear indicator of the great strength in depth of UK and Irish higher education.

“Our awards are inclusive by design, and while THE has learned countless things over the past 52 years covering the sector, right up there is the fact that innovative and inspirational ideas can originate at any institution, whatever its shape, size or reputation.

“We’re incredibly proud to host this biggest celebration of the sector, and particularly excited this year by the prospect of taking the final ceremony on the road for the first time. The ACC in Liverpool awaits on 7 December, and the THE team are all looking forward to seeing everyone there and toasting your success.”

This year, in recognition of the breadth of excellence at Lancaster, the University has also been shortlisted in two other categories in the THE award categories – Business School of the Year and Knowledge Exchange / Transfer Initiative of the Year. Read the news article on the University website.
