The Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – Home is awarded to high achieving undergraduate students who make Lancaster their firm choice. It recognises both the fantastic results you have achieved to progress to undergraduate study and your commitment to joining our community by placing us as your firm choice.

Who is eligible?

You will be offered one of these scholarships if you:

  • achieve A*AA and above at A level (or the equivalent in an alternative qualification)
  • make Lancaster University your firm UCAS choice
  • are a full-time Home fee paying applicant

International fee-paying applicants may be eligible for our Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – International

Application process

  • There is no separate application process for the Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship. Eligible students will be identified automatically through their university application.
  • Around mid-October, after registration, eligible students will receive an email to confirm the details of the award, including the payment dates and how the award will be paid.

Combining scholarship awards

  • If you meet the eligibility criteria for the Lancaster Bursary you can combine it with this Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – Home.
  • The Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – Home can also be combined with named departmental scholarships, wherever awarded.

Payment of the scholarship

The award will be worth £3,000 and will be paid in two equal instalments in the first year of study.

  • The scholarship is available across all our full-time undergraduate degree programmes offered fully on campus at Lancaster University Bailrigg campus.
  • All grade conditions must be met or exceeded. Tariff point equivalences are not considered.
  • The Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship - Home is only available to students joining year 1 of an undergraduate programme

We also offer an Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship – International for international fee-paying students.

Lancaster University reserves the right to withdraw this scholarship or bursary if award holders are subsequently found to be ineligible or if the terms and conditions of the scholarship are not adhered to.
