Get involved with Green Lancaster

Welcome (or welcome back) to Lancaster! We are looking forward to the year ahead; we have lots of exciting events planned and plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with Green Lancaster.
Green Lancaster is a partnership between the University and the Students’ Union devoted to supporting our community with practical and transformative solutions to the climate and ecological emergencies.
We have a range of opportunities throughout the year for you to join our core team as a volunteer or student staff member delivering our sustainability projects, ECOWild, ECOWoods and Don't Ditch It. Walks and sessions take place weekly and regular field trips are run off campus in partnership with external organisations.
ECOWild is our nature and wellbeing project providing our community with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world through wildlife observation and mindful activities. Weekly Walks take place on Tuesday mornings, 09:30-13:00.
ECOWoods is our ecological regeneration project aiming to restore local ecosystems and enabling volunteers to gain practical experience and knowledge of nature restoration work. Weekly Sessions take place on Friday mornings, 09:30-13:00.
Don't Ditch It is a project promoting a circular economy on campus by collecting donations from students during the move-out period and redistributing them to local charities and new incoming students in the form of the ECOShop.
In addition to working or volunteering with us on our core projects, you can also get involved by visiting our pop-up events on themes such as the circular economy or energy demand that take place regularly on campus. Look out for us in spaces such as Alexandra Square or the library. Or else take part in ECOChallenge, the inter-college sustainability competition that will have you thinking outside the box to come up with innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
Finally, you might also consider collaborating with us via your society or department and modules. You can get in touch directly with us if you wish to collaborate on a dedicated ECOWild Walk or ECOWoods session for your society or department. Dates and times are flexible and the events are good for getting out in the open and building team spirit.
