Outstanding achievement award for Lancaster Professor

Professor Mike Berners-Lee has been recognised for his outstanding achievements in sustainability by receiving the Business of Science Leadership Award for Sustainability 2023.

The awards were started in 2017 as a way of celebrating the notable leadership and significant contributions of individuals to the commercialisation of science and innovation, irrespective of geography, sector, or background. The Award for Sustainability was new to this year’s awards and was presented at Lancaster University on Tuesday 25July.

Professor Mike Berners-Lee, a Professor in Lancaster Environment Centre, a Fellow in the Centre for Social Futures, and director of Small World Consulting said: “I am honoured to receive this award. It is wonderful to be recognised for engaging with businesses in a straight-talking and holistic way”.

Lancaster’s Centre for Social Futures works innovatively across disciplinary boundaries linking science, social science, arts and humanities to examine what futures might develop within key domains of human/material activity.Professor Mike Berners-Lee (Right) receiving his award
