LU Graduate His Excellency Jesmond Cutajar - Ambassador of Malta to Slovenia

During an official working visit to Slovenia from 24 to 29 August 2025, Lancaster University Alumnus His Excellency Jesmond Cutajar, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Republic of Slovenia, formally presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia. The presentation ceremony took place on 26 August 2025 at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana.
Prior to the official presentation, Ambassador Cutajar submitted his Copie d’Usage to the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia. Throughout his stay in Ljubljana, Ambassador Cutajar engaged in a number of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation between Malta and Slovenia.
His programme included meetings with the Head of the European Commission Representation in Slovenia, the Apostolic Nuncio, the President of the National Assembly, and the State Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister. Discussions focused on shared priorities and mutual interests in regional and international affairs.
Further engagements took place at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, where Ambassador Cutajar held talks with the State Secretary, the Director General for Multilateral Cooperation, the Acting Director General for European Affairs, and the Acting Director General for Economic, Cultural and Science Diplomacy. These discussions addressed key areas of bilateral collaboration, including economic diplomacy, cultural exchange, and multilateral engagement.
Ambassador Cutajar is an alumnus of Lancaster University, having completed a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and International Relations in 2015. He previously served as Malta’s Ambassador to the Republic of Iceland.
