The Confucius Institute offers weekly Mandarin Chinese language classes, with multiple levels to cater to everyone regardless of experience, from complete beginner to near-fluency. Classes are held during lunchtimes or evenings, and are taught by experienced native speakers of Chinese.

All classes will currently be held via Microsoft Teams. Upon registering, you will be provided with a link to join the class.

Our courses run for 9-10 weeks alongside each term, with 1 class every week. Classes are 1.5 hours each (1 hour for Improver 7-8).

Most classes will utilise the Discover China Textbook Series. We recommend ensuring you have a copy of the correct textbook for your class. Copies can be borrowed from Lancaster University Library, or can be purchased from most major booksellers.

• "Student Book 1" is used in Beginner Levels 1 - 3
• "Student Book 2" is used in Beginner Level 4, Improver 1-2 and Improver 3-4
• Improver 7-8 will work from other materials. No textbook is needed.
