Invitation to a book launch - 'When Rock Went to College' with Barry Lucas and Paul Tomlinson
Legends Live at Lancaster University 1969-1985
This is the story of how and why the greatest rock artists including U2, The Who, AC/DC, PInk Floyd, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison and Tina Turner, clamoured to play on a small stage, in a small hall at a small university in a small northern city.
Barry and Paul have now documented this piece of LU history and you are invited to attend the book launch back in the Great Hall to hear a few of the anecdotes, trials and tribulations about the performers, shows and backstage antics. Barry was responsible for bringing these acts to Lancaster and was Britain's first full-time, professional university campus impresario.
Book your place now for a night of nostalgia, music and previously unseen photos of some of the nation's most popular bands. You can pre-order 'When Rock Goes to College' online here or buy a signed copy on the night.
"Barry and Paul have put together here not just a fascinating account of a rock 'n' roll phenomenom, but a truly important and entertaining cultural and social history" - Andy KershawFriday 27 October 2017, 7.30pm-9.30pmThe Great Hall Complex, Lancaster University, LA1 4YW
